Top 10 Peyton Manning Commercials
I saw a couple of Peyton Manning's commercials in one sitting and it got me wondering how many he'd done. I never got an official tally, but YouTube is filled with them. So I picked out my top 10 favorites. I can't embed videos onto my page for some reason so you'll have to click the link. And considering the way Americans are these days, one extra click is clearly too much work. Click at your own will, but believe me, you won't be disappointed. These commercials are hilarious and Peyton sells the humor so well. To me, he is the most talented "actor" in professional sports today.
Tomorrow (Thursday) I'll be doing a full Heisman Trophy breakdown and why I think who should win (Tim Tebow)...

10) Direct TV: Let's kick it off with a funny, but not hilarious, advertisement. It's a classic. By the haircut, it's pretty easy to tell it's one of Peyton's earlier works. The quality of the video is not the best, but you get the idea. Peyton playing a prick. He seems to be good at it...

9) Sprint: The only reason this commercial is so low is because it's not funny and I prefer humor in my commercials. But that doesn't make this ad any less "sick." It is one of the cooler ads in my recent memory. I enjoy the subtleties such as the Dolphins covering Marvin Harrison. I have to say, it creeps me out in the same way The Shining did, but that may be the point. Enjoy.
Manning in a hallway???
8) Mastercard: A Pro-Bowl cast of linebackers meet Peyton in a great idea that has some kick to it, but not enough. Of course, Peyton steals the entire commercial. Tough to steal something that's already yours, but he did. I don't even care who the linebackers are because they do nothing. Manning IS the funny here...

7) NFLShop.com: Now we are getting to the good stuff. The Manning family unites in a breakfast-making mission. Something tells me a family of quarterbacks really would be like this. I just love when Eli drops the eggs and Peyton "checks it to pancakes." Oh, that Peyton is one funny guy...
a typical Manning family morning...
6) Sportscenter: You've all seen it. I hope. The one where John Anderson of ESPN is giving a tour through the ESPN Headquarters and the Manning family is in the crowd. The brothers, now both a part of the NFL, lag behind and have a brotherly fight. Peyton gets the last straw, as he should...

5) Mastercard: "And now, another priceless pep talk from Peyton Manning." Simple, yet awesome. 30 seconds of Peyton being a dick. How is he so good at it, yet everybody says he's such a nice guy? That's skill. If the message he sends applies to you, then I especially hope you've learned something...
Priceless Pep Talk from #18...
4) Sprint: Another simple, yet addictively funny ad. This is one of those commercials that I hope comes on when I'm watching a Colts game. His country accent makes everything he says funny in itself. But I'm telling you, this guy can act. Why is it that Brett Fav-Ray has more silver screen time than Manning? Your time will come #18...
the Sprint commercial...
3) Mastercard: The first of two commercials as priceless as the message intended by the Mastercard group. "Can you sign the bread for my little brother? He loves you." I could watch these things all day and still laugh every time. People criticized him for doing too many commercials last year. Hell, watch them first! Maybe he should just quit football and become a comedian. He'd be damn good at that too. Your time will most definitely come #18...
Priceless: clicking on this link...
2) Mastercard: "Let's go insurance adjusters, let's go!" "Cut that meat! Cut that meat!" "You're my favorite accountant. Tommy, please!" Mastercard really saw something in Manning's on-camera charisma and ran with it. Every one of their "priceless ads" are just that. Priceless. It seems cliche to say that, but it is true. This is my absolute, hands-down favorite REAL commercial of Peyton's. No, really, your time is coming #18...

1*) United Way (* = spoof): That Saturday night when Peyton hosted SNL could have been the best SNL since they started hiring people who are not funny. I mean, truly, this fake commercial should be an SNL instant classic. Maybe they should air it on ESPN Classic. Now, you may be asking, "Mike, why do you love this commercial so much?" See for yourself. Nothing is funnier to me than a professional athlete with a sense of humor and the humility to do things out of the ordinary. Thank you, Peyton. I hope you time comes soon #18...

I died when I read that part of your synopsis... The commercial was damn funny too! I hadn't seen that before.
