Droppin' A Dukie

Wow! I love witnessing history. Who doesn't? Tonight was the Duke/Miami basketball game. Of course, I went. First half we sat in the 5th row. Eventually, we had to meet the peeps and do the rounds and ended up in the suites. Every second of this game was thrilling. From the opening 5 minutes that included 20 turnovers combined. I felt like I was watching Kirby Freeman's reincarnated in a basketball uniform. Balls were flying everywhere but in the hands of players. Up 20 points t one point, those damn Blue Devils came back and brought it within 10! Then 6! Then 4! I see the student section spill like a fresh milkshake slowly towards the court. The police begin creating their human barricade. The loudspeaker announces that the students must remain in the stands. Ha! Not in Miami my friend. But wait, when the whistle blows (and somebody on Duke made a sweet last second 3-pointer) the crowd rushes the court. Only to be Red-Rovered by a human barricade that would make any bouncer proud. With my camera on the entire event, I would be lying if I wasn't hoping to capture somebody get tazed or maced or inappropriately beat down. That would have been a nice YouTube video. This website would be getting hit like FIU players by Brandon Meriweather's helmet. I'm posting the video for your enjoyment. So....enjoy.

P.S.- ESPN reports that this victory is Miami's first over Duke in 45 years! That's twice my lifetime. Crazy. Other things that were going on when Miami last beat Duke:

        The Cuban Missile Crisis
Telstar (the world's first communications satellite) was launched
Nelson Mandela started his jail sentence
Johnny Carson debuted on The Tonight Show
        DNA structure uncovered
        John F. Kennedy was President

And on to the video I took (the only way to get it on here is to YouTube it)....The final seconds of the game. Keep your eye on the bottom left corner as the students attempt to rush the court. One kid gets taken out BIG TIME! Later you'll see a kid get pushed back into some chairs. Good action there.
