Going Back To The Fun

As most of you know, I was released March 24 by the Indians. I expected it in a way, but still don't understand the real reasons to this day. I probably never will. Only one and half seasons to prove yourself after being drafted in the 8th round would surprise anybody I guess. But that is the past and it has opened the door to more appealing opportunities, which I am beyond excited about. It's been almost 2 years since I played the game I love. To play the game the way I played it at Marietta will be a delight. Playing as a team. Playing to win. Playing for each other. I couldn't be more excited. And the Washington Wild Things do all of that.

Not only do the Wild Things have a tradition of winning, but also possess great location. It is just 30 minutes from Pittsburgh, but also within 2 hours from my college. Why does this matter? Yes, old friends can come see me play. But also, should August 25th approach and I am still in a Wild Things uniform, I will have the chance to begin finishing my education. This is obviously all dependent on a few other situations in my life and how they are going come September, but I will have the opportunity. I watched this Wild Things squad as they progressed over the year I was at Marietta. They've had a great connection with the Etta's baseball program as 5 different alumni have played on the team at some point. Chris Sidick will be my teammate again as he enters his 4th season with the team. I am anxious to get started and hope to help carry on their winning tradition as I did in college only a few hours away and a few years ago.

Mike that's awesome! Congrats on joining the team. Hopefully I'll see you in August. You'll be visiting the Gateway Grizzlies here outside of St. Louis, so I'm going to try and go to a game or two.

Congrats, Mike on your signing with the Washington Wild Things!!! Is this a semi-pro league or is it affiliated with any MLB team? I'm sure they scout these teams, so hopefully something good will come out of all of this. When do you report and when does the season begin? I checked their web site, but couldn't find this years schedule.

Way to go !! I already checked the website to get my hat for the Wild Things. I already have my Mahoning Valley Scrappers hat and my Lake County Captains hat. I see that this club is close to Pittsburgh and the Pirates were one of the teams interested in drafting you, if I remember correctly. Wherever you are, I am always behind you.
