Music Week: Hans Zimmer vs. John Williams

I've been working on this blog for 15 months now. Never have I posted an entry from a computer other than my own. I finally know why! I had already written 300 words before the crap computer I'm using in a lab somewhere in southeast Ohio decided what I had to say was not good enough. Then, again it shuts my post down on the 2nd try. So, apparently I can't post any pictures or links in this one until I edit it later at home. And I'm already in a crappy mood and acting like Chris Crocker. I shouldn't take this out on you, devoted reader, but that's just how it went down. Moving on, this will be much shorter and not funny compared to most of my articles. Not that I was hilarious before. I was getting all philosophical about how much I love good music in a movie, but this computer is about to get a keyboard to the face. Moving on...

So, who is the better movie composer. Music is such a vital component to making a truly memorable film. For example, a friend was watching a movie the other day trying to figure out the title for over 30 minutes. I walked in the room and before I saw the screen it only took me 4 musical notes to know it was Catch Me If You Can. And guess who created that Oscar nominated music. Yep, John Williams.

           The Final Bell
A Draw!!! But each man gets their own specialty here. While John Williams is easily the most seasoned and has a deeper resume, Hans Zimmer has created many of my favorite scores of all time. So, although I recognize John Williams as the most accomplished movie musician of all-time, Hans Zimmer is by far my personal favorite. Many of my favorite and most commonly shower-humming music is all Hans Zimmer. Still, John Williams dominated the 70s through 90s and churned out some of the most famous scores of all-time. In the end, some of the music John Williams has produced is kind of corny and old school. On the other hand, Hans Zimmer is an expert at the dark music that encompasses entire films. Sorry, I know I copped out on you.

This is not a draw. Do the math 6-3 Williams, and that is with you handing zimmer a category for fun (reach). Just because TDK gets your jollies off you called it a draw. Looks like you're the joker. haha
